When you are setting off on a long haul flight the contents of your hand luggage are important! A 24 hour journey is never going to be great so I like to try and include as much as I can to make the journey that little bit more comfortable. Tomorrow I’ll be travelling to Chile and my journey time will be 24 hours so here’s a snoop into my bag…
- Passport and boarding passes ~ Obviously!
- Eye Mask and travel pillow ~ Key for a light sleeper like me.
- A new travel journal {Mine is from my favourite shop, Paperchase}
- A pen ~ To write in the journal and to fill out my landing card when I arrive.
- Camera
- Glasses
- Toothbrush and Toothpaste ~ 24 hours is a long time!
- Moisturiser and lipbalm ~ To try and combat the dryness to planes
- Ibuprofen ~ For just in case!
- IPod and headphones
- Kindle ~ Loaded with lots of new books
What do you take on long haul flights?

An extra sweater, I always get cold on planes 🙂 Have a nice trip!
So true! I also tend to go between too hot and too cold; layers are the key! And, thank you 🙂
Small tissues as my nose get clogged from time to time. I also find extra magazines are good as staring at screens for long hours can make me even more jet lagged.
I like flicking through magazines too, especially when you start to get into the really tired stage!
This is a great list of essentials! I always forget to bring a pen – which I always kick myself for once we touchdown and I’m scrambling through customs!
Isn’t that the worst? Especially when you’ve already had a really long journey! Thanks, Courtney! 🙂
A neck pillow, ipod, book/kindle, snacks, chapstick and lotion are all must haves. Everything else is an added bonus! I like your new layout and header!
Thanks Yalanda! 🙂
I love (and miss) paper chase!
Paperchase is the best! Sometimes I have to walk past though as it seems I can’t go in without buying anything! 😉
My hand baggage contents are about the same as yours, and I buy my travel notebooks from Paperchase as well–the prettiest!
They have so many lovely travel things during the summer so I always like to stock up!
I love this! There are all the essentials but you didn’t over pack. I’m a classic over packer, especially now that I travel with a toddler. For myself I’ll bring chapstick, but for him I’ll bring whatever I can think of will keep him occupied, including a shower curtain turned into a road map for toy cars, while stopped over!!
Great post and nice to meet you

Wow, I can only imagine how much extra you have to pack for a toddler! The shower curtain sounds really creative!
