Yellow

Colours are one of the things you notice when you travel.  Colourful street art, colourful and exotic fruit, colourful clothes, colourful market stalls…

This week I’ve learnt a bit about the colour yellow from an art therapy magazine which inspired me to take a look through my travel photos and pick out pops of yellow.

The colour yellow stands for optimism.  It can stimulate the mind and spark creative ideas too.  Yellow can also bring clarity and stillness to the mind as well as being associated with royalty in some countries.  I’ve found yellow in…

  1. This is such a fun post! I can imagine how much fun you must have had searching through your old pictures! I love the pictures of the single yellow flower and the yellow slide. I LOVE the color yellow! It’s one of my favorites. But I don’t have a clear or still mind, lol!

    • Thanks Anna 🙂
Hahaha, welllll it says that if you like the colour yellow then you are creative and unafraid to think for yourself. You are also cheerful and good at communicating… Maybe that is more fitting?

  2. Love love love these colours!! So much – a post like this is super inspiring, I mean colour patterns yay…am I weird?
Anyhow – I was just thinking seeing that park in front of the mountains in Santiago – how things have changed and yet not so much. That park reminds me of the park in that photo of me as a child in 1991 🙂

  3. I love how you did this, and how it reflects so many places you’ve been to! I’ve seen “color’ posts focused on one specific place, so it was cool to see a different take on honing in on a color throughout your travel photos. Yellow is a great color – I think it conveys energy and positivity 🙂

  4. How I love the color yellow. I didn’t even know it was suppose to make you happy but it really does! There’s something so life giving about it – I suppose since the sun is yellow and all…

  5. I love this idea for a post! Yellow is such a happy colour, I can definitely see how it is associated with optimism! So many great shots, but I really love that one of the slide and the mountains in Chile.

  6. You know, I notice bright colors but never thought to be more aware of the colors and having them as a theme, if you will. I really like this idea and will have to pay more attention during my next travels. Great photos. No wonder the color yellow makes me so happy:) Thank you for sharing!

    • I’m glad you enjoyed reading it! I wouldn’t say I was that aware of the colour yellow when I took the photos but it was fun to look through my photos and pick out yellow, most of these photos were taken so many years ago so it’s great to re-live the moments 🙂

  7. Great photos! The yellow is truly striking in many of them. Yellow always makes me think of education. Maybe because the school buses are yellow in the States. This makes me want to look through my travel photos for pops of specific colors!

  8. I love the idea for this post! Yellow is actually my favourite colour, it reminds me of a happy face, and being cheerful. I love the shot of the yellow chair in Marseille, France. It pops out so much in contrast to the beige wall.

  9. This is such a good idea for a post! I loved looking through all of your photos! I’m actually working on a colorful travel post right now! Colors are one of my favorite things to look for while traveling! Yellow reminds me of spring and warm weather! Such a happy color 😀

  10. I love these kind of posts, they’re so fun to put together! It’s cool to look back through photos and find certain themes or colors that you photograph. Yellow is definitely a happy, cheerful color!
