I can’t count how many times over the past few weeks people have asked me how I feel about moving to Chile. I usually reply with a face like this…

and mumble something about how I am a mix of every emotion at the moment, and also the fact that I still don’t feel like I am leaving! So, I thought It’d be fun to put together a post describing my feelings, through photos taken around the world.
A few times people have wished my Happy Travels as they maybe think I will be spending the next few years at the beach or up a mountain, something like this…

But anyway, before I even get there. It’s time to start packing, which I have started already but it feels something like this…

Then, it’s time to leave London and say goodbye to my family at the airport, but not for long as they will arrive seven weeks later for three weeks in Chile to celebrate our wedding. So, time to prepare for the crazily long journey across the ocean to Chile, where I wish I would be smiling like this…

But actually, I feel more like this…

I’ll smile from ear-to-ear as I see the beautiful mountains from the plane window, like this…
Then when I arrive I’ll step off the plane into spring, where Chileans will be saying it’s cold and will be dressed like this…
However, for me, Chilean spring feels like English summer so I will be dressed like this…

Then, time to catch up on sleep and wake up feeling refreshed like this…

Before adopting the nod and smile routine as I transition back into Spanish everything, so my face will look something like this…

This is when the mountains of food will begin as a welcome party from Carlos’ family and I will eat everything, and resemble something like this…

Haha – Carlos’ family always used to ask me if I was cold because I was wearing a tshirt while they were all in jumpers but for me, it felt like the hottest days we get in the UK!! I’m so excited for my family, and 6 of my friends to come for our wedding, it makes leaving easier as I know I’ll see them really soon 🙂

I’m Irish/Australian living in Viet Nam, moving to Bangladesh. Lived in Switzerland before.
It gets easier after the first few times.

I love this post, it’s so original. Packing is such a chore for me, no matter how early I try to finish the task I always end up packing until the last moment. You get two summers this year, how lucky 🙂
Aww, thank you so much! The thing about packing this time is that I am packing everything so it doesn’t take too long to choose outfits etc as it’s my whole wardrobe 😉 Yes!! I am so excited that I miss winter, yay!

You nailed it! I am also one of the many who moved abroad to get married. I can relate to all of it, especially the part about Chileans and the weather. Brazilians from Rio or Vitoria are exactly the same. I’ll be walking out the door in shorts, look around and think “Why is everyone wearing scarves and hats? Oh, it’s cloudy.” Good luck with the move! #MondayEscapes
