This weekend was a long weekend here in the UK so Carlos and I took advantage of the extra day off and headed to St Ives in Cornwall, it’s a five and a half hour train journey from London and is located on the south west tip of the UK. I had heard wonderful things about St Ives, and google images showed me picturesque photos of clear, blue water and soft sand against a bright blue sky… I thought these may have been enhanced with the help of photoshop. But as the train pulled into St Ives, we were delighted to see that it really did look like the images, the water was especially beautiful and the sun was beating down on us, I had to do a double take to check I hadn’t accidentally travelled to the Mediterranean.
These are some photos of the beautiful area, while I prepare some longer posts for next week and the week after, no photoshop enhancing… It really was this amazing! Take me back, it’s really worth that long train journey!
Which amazing beach have you been to?
Based on my colour themed posts, I am going to be creating a ‘multicoloured’ themed post, which I will publish on Thursday 28th May. I would love to make it a collection of lots of blogger’s travel photos, so if you have a photo with a multicoloured theme, please could you email it to me by Wednesday 27th May at: clemandmarcella@gmail.com , with a short caption to tell me where the photo was taken as well as your blog URL so I can then make a link to your blog. It could be anything from a colourful market stall, to traditional colourful outfits to a multicoloured bird. Can’t wait to see your photos 🙂
My colour themed posts so far: Blue, Yellow and Pink

Truly stunning pics that are drop dead gorgeous. And in the UK which is amazing as I don’t usually think of it as a beach destination. But then again some of my favourite beaches are in Prince Edward Island in Canada.
Same! Sometimes it’s easy to forget the natural beauty that is close to home. It was definitely a good reminder!
Whoa, I can’t believe those are just the natural colors with no editing!! I’m looking forward to more posts about Cornwall coming up as I don’t really know much about it at all! Was the water cold?
I know, the blue colours were truly unreal. I later read that the water around the Cornish coast is some of the most changeable in the UK and it’s so true because we saw so made different shades of blue, green and turquoise over the three days!
And yes, the water was freezing! But I did still see a few brave people swimming. Most people were surfing in wetsuits though.
Lovely photos! x
Thanks Amanda!
Cornwall looks so lovely! Thanks for the link back to my blog post. Tahiti truly had the best sunsets ever!!!
It was a great weekend away 🙂 You’re welcome, I really loved reading your post 🙂
Gorgeous! Blue skies + blue water, can’t beat that! I don’t usually think of clear water when I think of the UK but now I know better 🙂
Me neither, I really kept thinking – Am I really in the UK?! It was a great reminder 🙂
Oh this place truly does look lovely! I love beaches and coming from San Diego, nice beaches is always a must for me! I will have to make the trip there sometime in my life!
It really was lovely! And great that it’s in the same country 🙂 I spent two days in San Diego and you have some great beaches!!
St Ives looks like an old-fashioned postcard – picture perfect! Was it chilly?
It really was picture perfect! The weather was really nice so we we were lucky but the water was freezing! 😉
Your trip looks amazing! I’ve always wanted to go to St Ives but have not yet managed the trip. I will get there one day though. I just want to dive right into the sea! Laura x
The sea looks so inviting, doesn’t it?! It’s definitely a great location to visit, I’m glad to managed to get there 🙂
Such gorgeous photos! Cornwall looks so idyllic 🙂
Thanks Amy! It was beyond my expectations 🙂
Looks so beautiful! Can’t wait to read more about your visit! 🙂
Thanks Sara 🙂 More posts next week!
Thanks Sara 🙂 More posts next week!
Love the pics! I haven’t made it down to Cornwall yet and I really need to, so I’m also looking forward to your posts 🙂
Thanks Jessi! I’d really recommend it, and it was perfect for a long weekend… the travelling might be a bit too much for just the weekend because it’s you’d lose a lot of the day on the train.
