Murals in Valle del Elqui, Chile

After arriving in the Valle del Elqui, Chile and heading to a solar powered restaurant, we went to find a place to stay before jumping in the pool to cool down.  The following day we explored the valley and discovered that is is just so colourful!

Murals covered so many of the walls, shops and restaurants, and were beautiful and I also managed to find detailed mosaics too.  Many of the murals had a mystic vibe to them which fits with the vibes of the valley and I loved the variety of them all.DSC02757DSC02772DSC02740

This beautifully detailed mosaic in Pisco is of Gabriela Mistral; A Chilean poet and Nobel Prize winner.  She was born in the area and features in many art works around.  As you can tell from the shadows, it was a really sunny day!DSC02697

  1. AMAZING! I am itching to go to South America, for now it will need to wait until we are ‘finished’ with Asia. I just adore all these murals, and the bright colors! Thank you for posting

  2. Wow, these pieces are all amazing! It makes it hard to choose a favourite. I love the last one, especially because of the story behind it. But I also love that tiled star!

  3. WOW! These are beautiful – I especially love all the bright colors. I think the one with the mosaic sun is my favorite because I love the mixed media contrast!

  4. My favorite?! Hard to choose! They are all so beautiful in their own unique way! I really like the one of the woman ‘sprouting’ out of the tree! It’s like a more detailed, expressive tree of life! Beautiful pictures!
