Doesn’t every city break have to include visiting a view spot? The London Eye and The Shard in London, The Eiffel Tower in Paris, The Empire State Building in New York.
When we were in Geneva we went to a view with a difference. You take the cable car up to the top of a (smallish) mountain and you can take in all the beautiful views below. What I loved most about this spot was that you can also walk around the top of the mountain as there are a few trails to choose from. So a view but also a chance to have a walk. It’s also really easy to reach the mountain, just a short bus ride from the city centre.
Isn’t there something special about seeing buildings get smaller and smaller as you go higher and higher.
Can you imagine going to a wedding here?! They were prepping for one while we were there!
Not a bad view to enjoy a picnic over either. If you look closely you can see the The Jet d’Eau ~ The Waterfountain on the far left of the lake. That thing is huge! I also saw it illuminated on my evening flight when I left Geneva.
You can also stop for a warming hot chocolate as it’s slightly colder up there!
Which is your favourite city view?

It’s Travel Tuesday with Bonnie, Camila, Amy and Jessi 🙂
Gorgeous view! I didn’t even know there was a cable car in Geneva! Perhaps my friend didn’t tell me because it was january and it’s not really worth going up the mountain in that weather!
I guess the view in the winter would be really different! The mountains must look great when they are coated in snow though 🙂
My favorite view is anything with water and mountains. Both very pretty on their own but spectacular paired together! I have recently been enjoying views from way up high, when a city has a tower, I always want to go up and look around! It’s fun to point out places you’ve been from way up high!
Water and mountains… such a good pair!
Yes I think every city needs a view! I didn’t know this existed–what beautiful views!
Thanks! It was a good find 🙂
